The Goal
Responsibilities
Busy 9-5 working class that is mostly too busy to go to a tailor for measurement and cloth shopping but still needs an easy way to acquire new clothing.
Design an app that allows users to easily order custom made clothes and choose experience tailors that can make them.
Ideation, conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.
User Research Summary
I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified through research was working adults who don’t have time to go clothes shopping.
This user group confirmed initial assumptions about Trendy Tailor app customers, but research also revealed that time was not the only factor limiting users from shopping physically for their own clothes.
Other user problems included obligations, interests, or challenges that make it difficult to get materials for new clothes or go to cloth stores in-person.
User Pain Points
Time
Working adults too busy to go visiting tailors for new outfits.
Accessibility
Platforms for ordering clothes and tailors are easily available at the moment
IA
Text-heavy menus in apps are often difficult to read and order from
Persona
Problem Statement
Ayo Agbaje is a Banker who needs an easy way to acquire new outfits because she’s mostly too busy to visit tailors for clothes.

User journey map
Mapping Ayo’s user journey revealed how helpful it would be for users to have access to a dedicated tailor clothing app.

Paper & Digital Wireframes
Taking the time to draft iterations of each screen of the app on paper ensured that the elements that made it to digital wireframes would be well-suited to address user pain points. For the home screen, I prioritized a quick access to styles and tailors to help users save time.

As the initial design phase continued, I made sure to base screen designs on feedback and findings from the user research.

Easy navigation was a key user need to address in the designs in addition to equipping the app to work with assistive technologies.

Mockups
Early designs allowed for some customization, but after the usability studies, I also revised the design so users are able to select style options and tailors when they first land on the screen.
